[click! SIGH.]

After some trial and error, I've concluded that I can't fix this in the mirror. I need. Help.

...

Preferably a roboticist. Or a surgeon.

...

Or anyone with decent medical— you know what, I'm not sure I trust any of you.

[There is a bit of a pause. Kim grumbles something uncomplimentary about the boat, canines and the Captain's genetic makeup and sexual history.]

Also there's an animal or something trying to kill people. I think.

Well what good are you if you're gonna go and get yourself injured?

[identity profile] autodidacticone.livejournal.com 2010-10-22 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, very funny. Mock the cripple.

I'm sure you're just brimming with usefulness.

[identity profile] hasapainproblem.livejournal.com 2010-10-22 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
Sure, insult the crippled doctor. See if I help you now.

I got a few vicodin left. But I'm not giving it away cheap; I can't get any more when this runs out, and I need what I have.

[identity profile] entirelybonkers.livejournal.com 2010-10-22 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
[...!]

What happened?!

[identity profile] autodidacticone.livejournal.com 2010-10-22 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
Something big bit me and my prosthesis shorted out. The shock knocked me out for a while, and now I've got charred material on my neck.

...

I....didn't tell you....about the prosthesis, did I.

[identity profile] entirelybonkers.livejournal.com 2010-10-22 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
I must confess, that is not something I quite remember ever hearing you mention. Do you need assistance? I would be more than happy to do what I can, you know.

[identity profile] autodidacticone.livejournal.com 2010-10-22 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
I...

Yes, please.

[this is humiliating.]

Do you remember which room is mine?

[identity profile] entirelybonkers.livejournal.com 2010-10-22 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
Most certainly - ! I rather think I've passed my bit of memory loss while in Underland, it seems that was finally cured in and of itself, which I must admit was a bit of a relief. I was beginning to think myself a bit mad.

...

Of course, I am already rather mad, so I Suppose it really wouldn't have been much different, would it?

[identity profile] autodidacticone.livejournal.com 2010-10-22 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
We're all mad here.

[she'll just be waiting for you, then.]

[identity profile] entirelybonkers.livejournal.com 2010-10-22 02:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[She can most certainly agree with that statement, and eventually she's tapping on Kimiko's door, rocking back on her heels while she waits.]

[identity profile] autodidacticone.livejournal.com 2010-10-22 02:32 pm (UTC)(link)

[Kim opens the door for Alice, but doesn't stand in front of it, opting instead to hide behind. She isn't wearing a glove on her left hand, so the fingers curling around the edge are distinctly robotic.]

..Hi.

[identity profile] entirelybonkers.livejournal.com 2010-10-22 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[Alice steps inside, hands coming to settle on her hips as she looks at her curiously.]

What on earth are you doing back there? [Alice has seen some odd things in her day, this is really just another notch on the bedpost, to be frank. She peers at those fingers, eyes wide.]

How curiously wonderful!

[identity profile] autodidacticone.livejournal.com 2010-10-22 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[Kim blinks and hides her hand in the more normal one, shouldering the door awkwardly shut. The left side of her neck is quite black and spotted with angry red flesh.]

People were always freaked out by it.

[identity profile] entirelybonkers.livejournal.com 2010-10-22 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
[She wrinkles her nose.]

Really? I can't imagine why, I think its rather fantastic myself, though I suppose there are some out there that are decidedly afraid of things they just don't understand.

[Kimmy you are getting a very stern look now.]

Now - what bit you, exactly? And what do I need to do?

[identity profile] autodidacticone.livejournal.com 2010-10-22 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know. When it bit me, it severed something h—

[She starts to gesture with the mechanical hand, but it jutters unpleasantly, so she drops it again. It's obvious where the damage is.]

There was a shock; I woke up nearly an hour later.

[identity profile] entirelybonkers.livejournal.com 2010-10-24 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[Alice pulls a face that remarkably resembles something that the Hatter would manage, and steps closer in order to get a better look.]

I see. And your neck is part of this too?

[identity profile] autodidacticone.livejournal.com 2010-10-24 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
That's where it bit me. Whatever it was severed the power-line leading to my eye and neural jack. It's decreasing my control over my limbs...

[and she's blind in that eye, for now.]

[identity profile] entirelybonkers.livejournal.com 2010-10-24 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[Alice isn't certain of those technological terms, but she can tell that it isn't good.]

Perhaps you ought to sit.

[identity profile] autodidacticone.livejournal.com 2010-10-24 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[Alice gets a flat look for that]

I'm not going to faint.

[identity profile] entirelybonkers.livejournal.com 2010-10-24 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[You are worrying her dammit]

I most certainly hope not, though I rather think when you say control over your extremities is decreasing that isn't a very god thing.

[identity profile] solittleeffort.livejournal.com 2010-10-22 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
[Maia's no expert on mechanics (or at least, she isn't as knowledgeable as she is in regards to Dark Eco), but considering that she was going to operate a Precursor robot, she knows enough about how certain machines are supposed to function.

...that, and if she helps this person, they'll be in debt to her. Maia likes that thought.
]

Would I be correct in assuming you're still in need of assistance?

[identity profile] solittleeffort.livejournal.com 2010-10-22 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
Maia.

Depending on the type of robotics, I should be able to help. Where could I find you?

[identity profile] solittleeffort.livejournal.com 2010-10-22 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[Hm. Same deck Maia's on. It's isn't very long before there's some loud knocking at Kim's door.]

It's Maia.

[identity profile] autodidacticone.livejournal.com 2010-10-22 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[Kim opens the door, but doesn't come out form behind it until Maia's inside. She's wearing a fairly tame get-up, but it does leave both arms and shoulders exposed. The cyborg arm is extremely obvious.

For a minute she just looks at Maia, as if daring her to make something of it— the damage is obviously to Kim's neck, if the char and angry red burns are anything to go by. The wolf bit her there and broke the power-contact leading to Kim's eye and neural implant, which shocked them both into unconsciousness. It's located near the back of Kim's neck— an awkward place to run self-maintenance.
]

It's nothing major, just a severed power-line, but I can't solder it myself.

[identity profile] solittleeffort.livejournal.com 2010-10-22 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[Maia takes a few moments to observe the condition of Kimiko's body - it's different from Precursor technology, but Maia's a quick learner and Kim seems to know how to fix it. It's just that she apparently can't do it by herself.

However, first thing's first.
]

What should I expect in return for this favour? [Maia doesn't help people unless she gets something out of it.]

[identity profile] autodidacticone.livejournal.com 2010-10-22 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
...

What, you want paid? Money's worthless here.

[Kim was wealthy, back home.]

All I have is information. You've been here longer than me.

[identity profile] solittleeffort.livejournal.com 2010-10-22 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm quite aware that money has no real value here. Also, I've only been here for two months, now, so if you arrived within that span of time? Then yes, I've been here longer than you. [Although Maia has her doubt about that. Not that it really matters much, in this case.]

Either way, information will be just fine.

[identity profile] autodidacticone.livejournal.com 2010-10-25 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
[Kim narrows her eyes.]

Fine. Solder first, talk after.

[identity profile] solittleeffort.livejournal.com 2010-10-25 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
Deal. [And soldering isn't that hard, even if the technology that keeps Kim's body going is different from the kind of machinery Maia's used to back home.]

I assume you have the right equipment?

[Either way, Maia will fix her up. If the information Kim has to give afterward isn't helpful, then it shouldn't be too hard for Maia to simply re-break what she fixed. Of course, that will all depend on what Kim tells her once everything is said and done.]
