[click! SIGH.]

After some trial and error, I've concluded that I can't fix this in the mirror. I need. Help.

...

Preferably a roboticist. Or a surgeon.

...

Or anyone with decent medical— you know what, I'm not sure I trust any of you.

[There is a bit of a pause. Kim grumbles something uncomplimentary about the boat, canines and the Captain's genetic makeup and sexual history.]

Also there's an animal or something trying to kill people. I think.

[Maia's no expert on mechanics (or at least, she isn't as knowledgeable as she is in regards to Dark Eco), but considering that she was going to operate a Precursor robot, she knows enough about how certain machines are supposed to function.

...that, and if she helps this person, they'll be in debt to her. Maia likes that thought.

Would I be correct in assuming you're still in need of assistance?

Maia.

Depending on the type of robotics, I should be able to help. Where could I find you?

[Hm. Same deck Maia's on. It's isn't very long before there's some loud knocking at Kim's door.]

It's Maia.

[Kim opens the door, but doesn't come out form behind it until Maia's inside. She's wearing a fairly tame get-up, but it does leave both arms and shoulders exposed. The cyborg arm is extremely obvious.

For a minute she just looks at Maia, as if daring her to make something of it— the damage is obviously to Kim's neck, if the char and angry red burns are anything to go by. The wolf bit her there and broke the power-contact leading to Kim's eye and neural implant, which shocked them both into unconsciousness. It's located near the back of Kim's neck— an awkward place to run self-maintenance.

It's nothing major, just a severed power-line, but I can't solder it myself.

[Maia takes a few moments to observe the condition of Kimiko's body - it's different from Precursor technology, but Maia's a quick learner and Kim seems to know how to fix it. It's just that she apparently can't do it by herself.

However, first thing's first.

What should I expect in return for this favour? [Maia doesn't help people unless she gets something out of it.]

...

What, you want paid? Money's worthless here.

[Kim was wealthy, back home.]

All I have is information. You've been here longer than me.

[identity profile] solittleeffort.livejournal.com 2010-10-22 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm quite aware that money has no real value here. Also, I've only been here for two months, now, so if you arrived within that span of time? Then yes, I've been here longer than you. [Although Maia has her doubt about that. Not that it really matters much, in this case.]

Either way, information will be just fine.

[identity profile] autodidacticone.livejournal.com 2010-10-25 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
[Kim narrows her eyes.]

Fine. Solder first, talk after.

[identity profile] solittleeffort.livejournal.com 2010-10-25 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
Deal. [And soldering isn't that hard, even if the technology that keeps Kim's body going is different from the kind of machinery Maia's used to back home.]

I assume you have the right equipment?

[Either way, Maia will fix her up. If the information Kim has to give afterward isn't helpful, then it shouldn't be too hard for Maia to simply re-break what she fixed. Of course, that will all depend on what Kim tells her once everything is said and done.]
